Brisbane Roar FC W-League

The Brisbane Roar FC W-League team, also known as the Brisbane Roar Women, represents the Brisbane Roar in the Australian Women's National soccer League, the W-League.
==Formation==

The Westfield W-League was formed in 2008, with naming rights being occupied by Westfield, the company co-founded by Frank Lowy, who is referred to as the Godfather of Australian Football. 7 of the 8 founding teams of the Hyundai A-League were allowed teams, with an 8th team given to Canberra United FC.
Brisbane Roar (then ''Queensland Roar''), would be coached by Welshman Jeff Hopkins, who enjoyed stints in England an abroad during his playing days. The playing roster would feature a mix of youth and veterans, including founding captain and Matilda's stalwart, Kate McShea, and up and coming Goalkeeper, Casey Dumont.
